Hogan's Heroes continuosly sabotaged its competion, becoming one of the most popular shows on the late 1960's. In fact, the series became so popular that it's stars were planted in character on toher programs such as "The Lucy Show". "Laugh In", "The Hollywood Palace" and "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour". John Bannerman ans Werner Klemperer even appear as Schultz and Klink for a U.S. Treasury short entitled "Star Spangled Salesman", in which they hawk U.S. Savings Bonds with The Three Stooges.

Hogan and his men almost join forces with a new nearby underground unit, but they discover that they are underground Gestapo agents. Hogan and his men play along to set up a sabotage mission. Real dynamite is put in place of fake explosives, and the Gestapo ends up destroying a tunnel and their own agents.
TRIVIA NOTE: CAPTAIN HEINRICH IS PLAYED BY CHARACTER ACTOR MICHAEL CONSTANTINE, A.K.A. THE SARCATIC PRINCIPAL "MR. KAUFMAN" ON TV'S "ROOM 222".
TANKS FOR THE MEMORY

Bwcause the POW camp is safe from Allied air attacks, a new high-tec, radio controlled tank is stored at Stalag 13 for testing. Hogan and his men tunnel into the stateroom and begin photographing the tank's controls. When the POWs are suddenly interrupted by General Burkhalter, LeBeau climbs inside and demonstrates the tank for the General. Once near the barracks, LeBeau climbs out, while Carter places dynamite inside the tank, destroying it and General Burkhalter's car.

Colonel Crittendon, the new comander of the underground forces, threatens to undermine Hogan's plan to blow up a ball bearing plant. Hogan continues with his plan by leaving a truck loaded with dynamite at the plant,but Crittendon mistakenly takes the truck to Stalag 13. Crittendon is cptured, and the truck is left outside the barracks. Hogan has Major Hochstetter urgently paged to return to the plant. Hochstetter's car has flattened tires and Klink's staff car is in the shop so he will have to return in the truck.

THE GASOLINE WAR

Hogan plots to destry a fueling pump for German convoys being constructed next to the barracks.The pump cannot be destroyed without endangering POW's lives, because drums of gasoline are stored inside the barracks. Hogan decides to sabotage the oncoming convoy instead. As the convoy stops for fuel, Hogan's men use dynamite charges to destroy each vehicle miles from Stalag 13. The area is deemed unsafe and plans for the fueling pump station are aborted.
